Donald Trump gave his most recent economic speech with this backdrop. I briefly thought that he might somehow be striking the same theme as my recent post “Waste, Job Creation, and Higher Ed” [https://academeblog.org/2016/06/19/waste-job-creation-and-higher-ed/], but the choice of backdrop appears to have been just another example of a campaign that has not given much thought to the basics of campaigning.

Dim and Dimmer

ACADEME BLOG

This rumination is the latest from Louis Gohmert, widely known by the epithet “The Dumbest Man in Congress”:

“I really wonder how many people in this body who had the ultimate power to decide whether humanity would go forward or not, whether there was an asteroid coming or something that would end humanity on Earth as dinosaurs were ended at one time—okay . . .

“If you could decide what 40 people you would put on the spacecraft who would save humanity, how many of those would be same-sex couples?  You are wanting to save humankind for posterity—basically, a modern-day Noah. You have that ability to be a modern-day Noah. There are a lot of things that factor into this decision. For one, the company has outgrown our current space. There are no seats left, and we have new employees coming on every month. The state of Missouri is also helping us with some tax incentives, but these are minor considerations.

More importantly, there’s a motivation of conscience that factors into it, too. It’s not so much that I’m moving the company to Missouri as I’m moving it away from Kansas.

Please note – this is a personal blog post, reflecting my views on the performance of the Kansas government, and specifically Governor Brownback. It should not be interpreted as…

OBAMA IS A SPECIAL KIND OF STUPID

Enough is enough, Mr. President. There’s no “due respect” due you after pulling this stunt.

Exploiting a sick, evil, ideological-driven attack on Americans to further your twisted anti-Second Amendment mission is disgusting. Today you’re demanding an “explanation” from law abiding gun owners, but not demanding the same from followers of Islam, the religion behind this terror?
